Whenever I’ve been in Print Paradiso there’s always been other people in there for one reason or another and the day we sat down and talked about what I was going to write about him was no exception.
I forgive him for his lack of biscuits that day because he makes a cracking cup of tea and told me that an exclamation mark in the printing world is known as a “dog’s cock”!
Steven, his wife and eldest child arrived here in 2007 from south London. They were also considering moving to Amsterdam or Paris and we lucked out when they moved to Bristol.
Steven has a background in art – he studied it and one of the areas he covered was screen printing. His son, at the age of 14, did a screen printing project and to Steven it felt more enjoyable than his day job and it became his full time passion! A genuine mid-life realisation that is bringing him real joy.
His enthusiasm is a gentle pulse that generates the gracious and generous act of sharing talents.
Steven runs a variety of workshops – beginners, reintroductions to the art and teenagers who want to get messy and original. A typical workshop currently runs for an afternoon or a day but he does have plans to extend the length of some of the them.
On Wednesday evenings or Sunday afternoons for a short while you can print your own Christmas cards – get in there with a couple of friends and get into the festive spirit!
Check out Steven’s Instagram (printparadiso) and his website – www.printparadiso.co.uk.
The last part of any of my chats with local people is to tell me three things that describe who they are and Steve told me his are good music, good colours and design and a warm welcome. He’s spot on with all three of them!
