GREATER BEDMINSTER URBAN NATURE RESERVE

About 99%of the animal biomass in BS3, and in Bristol as a whole, is human beings, dogs and cats. The remaining 1% is around 40 bird species, 12-15 mammals, 4 or 5 reptiles and amphibians and, a range of insects, spiders, snails and whatnot.

The aim of the Urban Nature Reserve is to arrest the decline in this 1% and eventually reverse it so that creatures that we have been familiar with over the centuries will still be around in the future.

Every bit of space can help from the smallest window box to large parks like Victoria. St John’s Churchyard with its trees and bushes plays and important part and given it’s geographical position it is a significant part of the network of wildlife corridors that allows many animals to move around in search of food shelter and mates.
